How to Improve an Existing Product
You can have a niche marketing site that just isn’t producing sales for you at the rate you had hoped it would be, or maybe it isn’t making any income for you at all. It could be that you haven’t understood that what you are selling is, in fact, a niche market product.
You might need to do a bit of “tweaking” and adjust your strategies a bit to get the site performing better. There are some things you can do to improve your existing product.
Step 1: A well-known actor once said, “I don’t know what the secret to success is, but I know the secret to failure, and that was trying to please everyone.” He was right. You can’t please everyone, and you can’t sell to everyone either. You may need to narrow your market, identify your product’s niche, and advertise it accordingly.
Step 2: To improve your existing product, you’ve probably overlooked the most obvious solution of all. You can ask your customers what they think. They are, after all, the end-users of the product or service you are selling. No one knows how to improve a product better than the people who use it.
Step 3: Analyze the competition. Take the time and effort to examine the product or service that your competitor offers. Identify their strengths and weaknesses. Find out what your competition can’t, won’t, or doesn’t like to do, and get down to doing those things yourself.
Step 4: Are you selling your product for the right price? When a product’s price is too low, it makes people think that it will not be good; a too high price will discourage them from buying it.
